PARI shall pursue fundamental investigation, research and technology development on the following items.

  1. development, utilization and maintenance of port
  2. development and maintenance of navigation channel
  3. reclamation and drained reclamation within port area
  4. development, utilization and maintenance of coastal barrier within port area
  5. development and maintenance of airport
  6. research, technology development and dissemination, advisory activities, and data collection on the above-mentioned items

History

1946 Established as Railway Research Institute under Ministry of Transport (MOT)
1949 Moved to YOKOSUKA
1962 Established as Port and Harbor Research Institute (PHRI)
2001 Established as Port and Airport Research Institute (PARI)
under Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MLIT)
